Abstract: A 5 page paper discussing the book The Call of Service by Robert Coles. This book deals with the life of the author and the lives of many people who are determined to make the world a better place and to be more responsible for the world around them. While the book is essentially about the author Coles does a superb job at detailing many other people, aside from himself, people who are living responsible lives. He portrays these individuals in way that makes the reader see the participants as modern day heroes while also giving a realistic description of the pressures and defeatism associated with such service.
