Factoring and the Common Denominator

Abstract: This 3 page paper is written in three parts. The first part outlines a general strategy for factoring. The second part of the paper discusses why a lowest common denominator (LCD) is needed when adding and subtracting with rational expressions, the last part of the paper looks at how the common factor may be determined.
