Abstract: This 7 page paper provides an overview of the major elements of prenuptial agreements, and then considers the implications of these documents in defining marriage, the role of women, the rights of women, and the nature of the family. This paper supports the argument that women are often hurt by prenuptial agreements because they are often asked to give up careers or education to raise children and then are left with little upon the end of the marriage.
